Research in the department is primarily in the areas of vitreo-retinal diseases, neuro-ophthalmology and strabismus. Current projects include the following:
1) Pharmacokinetic research of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor treatment
in monkey eyes.
2) Measurement of aqueous concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor of
retinal diseases, such as retinal vein occlusion or age- related macular
degeneration before and after anti-vascular endothelial growth factor
treatment.
3) Clinical research on strabismus and amblyopia.
4) Clinical research for bimonthly intravitreal injection of ranibizumab for AMD.
5) Investigation of the eye muscles in thyroid ophthalmopathy using MRI.
