Shiga University of Medical Science (SUMS) installed the first intraoperative MR
machine in Asia, the 0.5 T GE SIGNA SP/i, and has started clinical studies since
January, 2000.
This system was especially designed for minimally invasive MR-guided
surgery and intervensional therapy. At present, about 10 leading institutes in
the world, such as Harvard and Stanford, are working with this high-technology
system.
SUMS aims to provide safe and accurate treatment for its patients using
minimally invasive technologies.
