# Division of Data Science for Clinical Nursing
We use clinical nursing data, statistical modeling, information and communication technologies, and AI to generate evidence that improves nursing care and supports clinical decision-making.
Open: Research Focus | Graduate Admissions
## Welcome
Our laboratory was established with the launch of the doctoral program in the Graduate School of Nursing at Shiga University of Medical Science. Building on data accumulated in real-world nursing settings, we aim to create practical, scientifically grounded knowledge that can be returned to clinical teams, care facilities, students, and research partners.
The laboratory is currently active during the establishment period from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2029.
## Research Focus
- Clinical Nursing Data: Visualizing and evaluating nursing practice using data generated in clinical care.
- Nursing Records and NLP: Analyzing narrative nursing documentation with natural language processing and machine learning.
- AI for Long-Term Care: Developing on-premises AI systems that support care-plan and nursing-summary generation in collaboration with care professionals.
- Wearables and ICT: Studying daily rhythms, sleep, physical activity, blood pressure, nutrition, and well-being using wearable devices and remote communication tools.
