How to apply

Dear Friends,

      We hope you are all well. Apologies for the delay, but we are pleased to tell you that the plans for our 13th International Conference on Literature of Region and Nation in Shiga are progressing well. Despite economic difficulties here, as in many parts of the world, somehow the Japanese yen remains strong, so we have been looking for ways to keep costs down. We have tried to find comfortable and inexpensive conference accommodation, and with the help of the Biwako Visitors' Bureau we have found a hotel, the Biwako Hotel, which is not only better than the one originally selected (and with some English-speaking staff too), but also offering a very reasonable price (8000 yen per person per night, which is around half their regular rate). The main conference venue will still be the Piazza Omi, and the Biwako Hotel will provide a courtesy bus to and from the conference venue. As the Biwako Hotel has an English website, please reserve your own hotel rooms and make sure to mention "RNLA conference" to get the special discount (reg@biwakohotel.co.jp).
      We have received quite a few papers from many different countries, but we still have some spaces for more papers, so if you have not contacted us, now would be a very good time to think of an article for the summer, and send us a proposal. Remember the rule: "publish or perish!"
      We have been endeavoring to pack the conference with cultural experiences as well as our academic exchanges, so that you may not need much extra sight-seeing time in this region.
