The World Health Organization "WHO" Kobe Centre, Japan
Ali Tanweer Siddiquee

The World Health Organization Centre for Health Development, aka, “WHO Kobe Centre” situated at Kobe in Japan is fully part of WHO’s Headquarters. With a vision of innovations for sustainable universal health coverage (UHC), it’s main mission is to research and foster innovative solutions and translate them into policies and actions to achieve sustainable UHC, in particular for ageing populations. During my internship at the WHO Kobe Centre, I developed and undertook a research project that examines a critical aspect of UHC in Bangladesh. Particularly, I examined the implication of rapid urbanization on achieving UHC in Bangladesh. I also looked into what are being currently done and planned for facing rapid urbanization challenge on achieving UHC in Bangladesh and finally discussing some solutions and recommendations. Besides the research project, I also took some trainings and lectures pertinent to my academics. I am thankful to the Leading Program at Shiga University of Medical Science for giving me the supports for the exceptional learning opportunity at WHO Kobe Centre.
