Welcome to Fundamental Nursing
Fundamental Nursing is the gateway to professional education and the first opportunity to learn nursing for students. We provide, among others, the following undergraduate education and two graduate courses in Fundamental Nursing at Shiga University of Medical Science:

Postgraduate education
The master's program offers two courses: "Research Course (Department of Care System Creation Nursing Science)" and "Nursing Management Course," while the doctoral program includes the "Department of Care System Creation Nursing Science."
・Research Course (Department of Care System Creation Nursing Science)
This course aims to discover foundational theories common across all nursing practices by comprehensively studying and researching humans as the subjects of nursing, thereby pursuing the scientific nature of nursing. It is expected to contribute to the development of mechanisms for creating safe and high-quality nursing care systems. Specifically, it targets research in nursing management, nursing informatics, nursing education, and nursing techniques, based on the foundation of nursing science.
· Nursing Management Course
This course aims to equip and develop nursing management practitioners with the broad knowledge to respond to changes in the environment surrounding the health, welfare, and medical care, nursing managment, leadership ability, and ethics to contribute to the development of high-quality organized nursing services.
Research
While research topics may vary across members, we conduct research that generates flexible solutions to nursing problems while collaborating with clinical practice. We aim to "make nursing science" grounded on systems thinking, linking human, material, and financial resources, including information.
