Malaysian Nursing Students joined three-week program at SUMS

Four nursing students from National University of Malaysia (UKM) joined three-week program at SUMS from December 3 to December 21.

SUMS and UKM have coordinated these student exchange programs based on the academic partnership agreement signed in 2011. SUMS also sent four nursing students to Malaysia for short-term program from May to June this year.

Malaysian students joined a training session at our Nursing and then, visited to see Pediatrics, Clinical Nutrition, and other clinical departments of SUMS hospital. They also visited Biwako Gakuen, a social welfare service corporation for children and adults with severe disabilities, in Kusatsu city, Saiseikai Shiga Hospital in Ritto city and Shizuoka Children’s Hospital.

On December 19, students gave presentation at the farewell and closing session. They presented the outcome of the program and results of their unique analysis comparing nursing care system of their home country and that of Japan. Director Ogasawara, Prof. Kuwata, Chief of Faculty of Nursing, and forty students and members of faculty attended to hear and actively exchanged ideas during the question-answer period.
