Annual Field Trip for International Students and Researchers

Wednesday, February 6, we had a field trip for the international students and researchers, and their family members to Biwako Museum, Sagawa Museum and Minamide Strawberry Farm.

They enjoyed learning about Lake Biwa’s historical and cultural aspects and the local life, and its ecosystem, animals, and plants at Biwako Museum in Kusatsu city. Fresh lunch with local ingredients, lake fish, vegetable and rice that were harvested by local farmers, was served at the restaurant in the museum and that was very tasty and delicious.

In the afternoon, they headed to Sagawa Museum in Moriyama city to see the interactive exhibition with projection mapping, 3D images and trompe l’oeil. These original and unconventional artworks made them amused and excited.

Strawberry picking at Minamide farm in Yasu city was also exciting experience for all participants, adults and children. They were fully satisfied with a bunch of sweet and fresh berries.

It was a great opportunity to get to know each other for participants and to learn the history and tradition of Shiga.
